The Elethu Story

The Elethu story

Elethu is a proudly South African wine-growing enterprise with a unique history and reputation for outstanding quality

Established in 2007, it comprises black-owned land; black-owned and managed vineyards; and; black-managed winemaking.

The Elethu farm lies on fertile river-fronting land on the outskirts of Bonnievale. In its early days, Elethu sold the grapes from its top-performing vineyards.

The journey to Elethu’s very first wine began with vines that were planted in 2012. Characterised by layering, this soil is rich in nutrients that feed the vines with the goodness required to create the very best quality fruit.

In 2022 Elethu took the next step, releasing Elethu Skalie, an ultra-premium wine and the standard-bearer for this remarkable initiative.

But the dream doesn’t end here. Elethu is a commitment too, to nurture the land to change lives as it has already, for generations to come.

Proceeds of these wines are re-invested into the business, but also in social change that will allow the Elethu community to thrive.
